About Microsuction
Microsuction is a safe and effective way of removing earwax and other debris from the ear canal. The use of magnification allows our healthcare professionals to clearly see the ear canal and the wax, ensuring that the procedure is carried out with precision and care.
Approaching the eardrum too closely can lead to harm, so occasionally, multiple visits might be required to thoroughly clean the ear.
Extra Information BEFORE PROCEDURE
Before having micro suction clearance of your ears it is important to soften and breakdown the wax to make the procedure more effective. These are the interventions suggested by Echo Ear Care:
1) If the length of time before your appointment is MORE than 1 week, apply sodium bicarbonate drops (which can be bought over the counter) to each ear, twice a day.
2) One week before your appointment STOP sodium bicarbonate drops and replace with olive oil drops twice a day until seen.
If the wax is particularly hard or close to the ear drum more than one appointment/visit may be required.
